In May, ODs at Oxford University got together to enjoy a pub lunch and meet and mix with fellow ODs (and others) to discuss doctorates, dissertations and other degree-related matters, and to assist in the rejuvenation of the Oxford pub economy. If this were a degree course on its own, our ODs would have passed with honours.
Our Cambridge ODs (and those who had been students at Cambridge) felt their time too had come and so on Saturday 3rd July, we met at The Granta (see header photo) to enjoy a convivial lunch and several drinks, with the prospect of punting very much lurking in our thoughts, becoming ever more distant as the afternoon went on. Next year perhaps ... before lunch...
Although we had a few late withdrawals, it was wonderful to have:
Dr Philip (1961F) and Judith Hazel. Philip studied maths at Cambridge where he received his PhD
Peter (1965W) and Diana Arthur. Peter studied law at Cambridge.
David Boddy (1970O) and his sister Susan Wepener. Susan had two of her boys at Bishops
Chris Molteno (2010O) who recently completed his MPhil in Engineering. He introduced Amarynth his significant other to the ODs, but wisely kept her surname secret.
Nicholas Janisch (2016G) recipient of the Mary Gray Scholarship, is completing his degree in maths at Cambridge
Piers Johnston (2015G) is studying Chemical Engineering at Cambridge as is
Laurence Midgely (2016B)
and your secretary (1973F) whose only link to Cambridge is through its pubs
