Alex Zadirov (1998S) came all the way from Moscow Russia for the 20thReunion event and paid a visit to the Mitre on the 20th of March. As a part-time job Alex participates in one of a kind annual expeditions to the North Pole.

These expeditions consist of very complex logistics which involve skydiving onto the drifting Artic ice-floe in the center of the Arctic ocean, dropping bulldozers, tons of cargo and fuel using parachute platforms (all via Ilyushin-76 strategic airlifter) in order to establish most Northern base-camp and runway on the ice. These highly comprehensive, multiple-staged technical and aviation maneuvers (which involve not just IL-76 but also Mi-8 helicopters and Antonov-74 aircraft) are performed each year from scratch, taking into account that the Arctic is a constantly drifting ice.

Once the base camp and the ice runway have been built, it “opens the doors” for the ordinary tourists and scientists to be able to arrive via Antonov-74 from Spitsbergen Archipelago, Norway onto the Arctic ice with very close proximity to the actual North Pole. The camp than operates as international tourist and scientific North Pole hub for approximately a month ‘till being completely dismantled and evacuated.
On top of being part of the Aviation team, Alex also takes care of guiding groups of tourists to the North Pole (either skydivers or ordinary tourists).

Below are links to some of the videos he made from his own footage:

Here I took a group of skydiving tourists as part of our expedition, including multiple times skydiving world champion Omar Alhegelan.

Attached are also some of the photos he took during the expeditions.
