Heavy Chef: Educating Africa - 13th Nov

Speakers:

Luvuyo Rani, CEO, Silulo

Lukhanyo, Founder, Thabo Mbeki Youth Hub

Marlon Parker, CEO, RLabs

Heavy Chef Founder, Fref Roed (1991G) reports: "We have invited three formative individuals who are on the front-lines of education. After a brief stint teaching at Bishops, Luvuyo Rani is now teaching basic computer skills to tens of thousands of Africans through his company Silulo Ulutho. Lukhanyo Neer is the founder of the Thabo Mbeki Foundation Youth Hub, which is driving the convergence of education and the 4th Industrial Revolution in Africa. Then, finally, Marlon Parker is the founder and CEO of RLabs, which has caught the world's attention, teaching over 11m Africans through its innovative approach to embracing technology. Together on stage for the first time, these three pioneers will unpack what it will take to educate the fastest growing population on the planet. This is one of the most important events of the year."

Quote for the Week

This week's quote is taken from the 2011 year book by Mr Glen Gibbon in the Chosen Teacher's Message (pg 106):

" ...Actually, who are you not to be all those things! Your playing small does not serve the world. We were born to make manifest the glory that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone ...As we are liberated from our own fear our presence automatically liberates others..."

Kind regards,

Adam, WP and Nicole
