Dear Jeremy Many of you have already responded to the request for input into the ODU's new strategy. While responses are able to be submitted until 11 October - and if you haven't yet had your say, please do so by clicking on the link below - there is a question which needs some explanation. In the questionnaire, you are asked whether you are in favour of non-Bishops pupils who are recipients of the Diocesan College Rhodes Scholarship automatically becoming members of ODU. Many have asked how this question is even possible. In 2014 the Rhodes Trust asked the only four schools in the world with their own dedicated Rhodes Scholarships (Bishops, SACS, Paul Roos and St Andrews) to open up their scholarship eligibility to a wider population. All the schools agreed and today the Diocesan College Rhodes Scholarship is open to pupils from Herschel, St Cyprians, St Georges and LEAP. To date, three non-Bishops pupils have been awarded the Bishops Scholarship (Emily van Heerden and Julia Hampton (both Herschel) and Ashley Pople (St Cyprians)). Note that the scholarship is still called The Diocesan College Rhodes Scholarship. Hence the question. Please do have a go at the strategy questionnaire by clicking the link below.
