1960 Reunion Lunch

Alan Ramsay (1960F) reports: The scheduled lunch for our class of ’60 turned out to be an exceptionally pleasant get-together, not just because of the camaraderie and the excellent meal, cooked by Judy Gildenhuys, but also because of the outstanding well-illustrated presentation by Syd, recording his recent visit to Normandy to experience the history of the D-Day landings. A very good time was had by all.

Standing, left to right: Peter Trengove-Jones, Geoff Caradoc-Davies, Dave Evans, Rob Phillips, Mac Bisset, Tom McEwen, Peter Fiske, Pat Normand, Chris Saunders, Lionel Goetz and Alan Ramsay.

Today in History

Today, 127 years ago, the first Cricket match was played on the Frank Reid Field. During 1891, Cannon Richard Brooke ordered the clearing of trees in order to establish a new Cricket field. The first match on this now historic field was played on 30 November 1891. It was, appropriately, between ODs and present pupils. The Pupils won by an innings and 10 runs. For the winners, Murray Bisset took 6 wickets for 27 in the ODs first innings and 8 for 19 in their second.
