The Mitre, CAPE TOWN
Thursday 14 Mar 2024
10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Simon Winter holds both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from the University of Cape Town.
He taught English and history at secondary school level before becoming an award-winning head teacher and a district education manager. He retired in 2015. He is an award-winning poet and has previously written a novel for young adults, called 'Bye Bye, Black Sheep'.
He lives in Green Point, Cape Town, with his wife Lee. They have two daughters and two grandchildren.
His latest book is about a group of unlikely revolutionaries who plotted to overthrow President Kruger - had they succeeded, Leonard would in all likelihood have become the new President and would have been ideally placed to defuse the tensions that culminated in the SA War of 1899 - 1902.
