On Tuesday 16 April 2024, there was cause for celebration at The Mitre when the ODA met with Elisa Raveglia from Bocconi in Milan who shared with us the news of Lutho's recent great success.

Lutho Cutshwa (2023W) has been awarded a full studentship to proceed to Bocconi University in Milan.

Present at the meeting were Bev Morris the Careers Guidance teacher at Bishops, Michelle van Schalkwyk, the Head of Academics and Mia Rogers both of Bocconi University, Milan, Italy.

Bocconi is known for being one of the leading business academic institutions in the world.

According to him: "I'll be pursuing my studies overseas doing a BSc International Economics and Finance. I am very grateful and excited for this opportunity as it sets to open doors for me in the future and is a great stepping stone towards my future endeavors. I am extremely grateful for every role that the Bishops community played in shaping me as a young man through my years at the college and preparing me for such great opportunities. I look forward to my journey ahead as it promises to be one full of experiences that can help me grow as an individual and hopefully one day make a difference in the lives of others."

One of the sponsors for the Bocconi programme is Count Natale Labia (2000S), of Fondazione Labia in Milan, who still keeps in close touch with Bishops and is one of the Europe representatives of the ODU.

The ODA Paul Murray and Natale plan to meet up in Milan in December of this year and check in with Lutho, around some coffee.  Their time goes back to the History class in the late 90s.

This is also an opportunity to introduce Lutho to other ODs living in Milan, I am sure they would love to all have coffee together - ODs connecting and engaging around the world!

The Bocconi programme runs annually and Mrs Bev Morris with Mrs Michelle organise this programme for Matric students at Bishops.

We look forward to more news about our students and Bocconi, in future.

Our heartiest congratulations to Lutho and his teachers!

Congratulazioni Lutho!

This is a significant award.
