Message from our Chairman

It is our privilege to serve our fellow ODs as we lead the ODU from strength to strength.

As you are aware, Paul Murray has taken up office as OD Ambassador as of  the 1st August.  He has settled in nicely and we are very glad of his presence which has been welcomed by all.  He continues to add value and brings a very stylish slant to the role.

The current committee has had a very busy tenure which will end in March 2023.  You kindly allowed us to serve for 18 months instead of the usual 12 months provided for by the constitution.  Soon it will be time for fresh legs and perspectives to take the baton to continue the good work already done.  We encourage you to consider serving on the committee.  It is our privilege to serve our fellow ODs as we lead the ODU from strength to strength.

In the upcoming monthly newsletter you will read about the numerous connections and relationships that are being built with not just ODs, but the broader Bishops Community, Western Cape schools and other communities.  We were very pleased to be able to host the Rondebosch Old Boys Union and Bosch Rugby Supporters Club at the Mitre prior to the first BishBosch game of the season, and we enjoyed the reciprocal event last night at Rondebosch just before the 200th BishBosch game happening this weekend!

We also appreciated the gesture of the invitations by Wynberg OBU and SACS OBU to attend their respective Annual Dinners.

ODs are spread across the globe and we are always pleased to hear from the branches in various countries and regions. Our UK branch is vibrant with numerous activities that ODs can engage with.  This week we also heard from our Canadian Branch who offered information and advice to school leavers wanting to study abroad.   We like to hear from all our branches and our office is happy to assist with initiatives that encourage ODs to connect with each other.

We have much to be thankful for as we reflect on another busy month of relationship building.

Wishing you and yours a lovely weekend.
