The ODU is very sad to announce the passing of Joe Barry, who died on 18 October 2025.
He passed away after a short illness in East London just seven weeks short of his 80th birthday!
Joe attended Bishops from 1954 at the Pre-prep at Miss Eaton’s class until 1963 when he matriculated from Ogilvie House.
Joe lived in East London where he owned his own short term insurance business, Barry Insurance Brokers.
He was well respected in the East London business community and was also a popular face at the EL City Club.
He was a Rotarian for many years, played bowls and enjoyed combat pistol shooting.
Joe is survived by his wife Anne and sons Stephen and Russell.
We send Anne and her family our deepest condolences.
