Fourteen alumni of the Matric Class of 1957 - 10 of them with partners - gathered to celebrate the 65th anniversary of their departure from Bishops - and they did in fine style at a tasteful luncheon at the Food Barn restaurant in Noordhoek on Wednesday March 1.
The menu offered such palate-tempting items as tuna tartare and seared shrimps or grilled baby calamari and avocado for starters; and Karoo lamb rack with date and butternut puree or saucy grilled kingklip with aubergine pate for the main course; all rounded off with a triple-choice of scrumptious sweets. The fine fare was attended by pairings of the Food Barn’s own delectable range of wines.
Class spokesman Mike Walker (1957,O) was in customary full voice, regaling diners with some humorous recollections of schooldays…and he was assiduous in conveying the thanks of all attendees to Peter Kleye and Neil Braithwaite for their meticulous care and extensive efforts in organising the get-together.
