On Thursday 09 August 2018 - National Women's Day in South Africa - two Alumni bodies of Historic Schools of South Africa clashed in a Tens Rugby match on the Piley Rees Field, at Bishops.
The Old Andreans came out firing on all cylinders, and dominated ball possession. The Old Diocesans had to tackle reletlessly for all their worth. This was certainly no 'friendly' in terms of physicality, and Old Andreans were awarded a 7-0 lead going into the half-time break.
OD captain, Simon Richman (1992W), spoke inspirational words to his teammates, who wore pink shorts in honour of National Women's Day. His guidance and wisdom had the desired effect, as the ODs scored three running tries to nil, to clinch a very exciting match 21-7.
The ODU would like to thank Bishops for allowing these two alumni bodies to form part of the Bishops - St. Andrews fixture, which has been played since 1896.
