Cameron Bellamy Swims 103 Miles for School Children

Founder of Ubunye, Cameron Bellamy is preparing to swim 103 miles across the Straits of Florida in September in order to raise funds to build a school in Zimbabwe

As some of you may know I currently preparing to undertake a epic swim of the Florida Straits, from Havana, Cuba to Key West, USA. The route is over 100 miles and should take anywhere between 48 and 72 hours, depending on weather and currents. After a slow start, due to injuries, my preparation has gone really well and I'm starting to feel confident.

I am writing to you with the hope that you will assist the Ubunye Challenge, a charity I started in 2011, with our main fundraising initiative for the the year: to build a new classroom block for the students at Mwenje Secondary School in Zimbabwe.

The project costs a total of $30,000 and right now, a generous donor is matching every dollar we raise, up to $15,000!

So far we have raised $6,000 of the $15,000 needed, and so we are 40% of the way there!

If you can spare $25, $50, or $100 it will be an amazing help to ensure the youth of Concession, Zimbabwe, have a classroom when school begins in January 2020?

In most countries, it's taken for granted that a suitable school, near to home, will be provided for our children. This is not the case in many rural and underdeveloped areas in parts of Africa.

Please check out the campaign’s webpage to learn more about the history of this school and the classroom blocks built to date.

Because of the Ubunye Challenge, and our partners on the ground, we’re already providing 100 students with a secondary education in their local community. With your help, we’ll ensure these students can continue their education at Mwenje Secondary School.

100% of all donations go directly to the project on-the-ground in Zimbabwe.

Best,
Cameron
