As we approach the centenary year of the War Memorial Chapel, we are including a reproduction of a photograph of its construction, with a short report from the editor of the Diocesan College Magazine of December 1925. The purpose of these few lines, which have been edited, was to inform the Bishops Community and those who were donors (by subscription), and those who lived at Bishops of the building in progress.
While the walls were rising, each day seemed to mark some advance, but the pace became slower once the roof work had to be done.
This was the intricate work of vaulting such a large space. This building, the editor wrote, “is a sign of the faith Robert Gray placed in the future of the School”.
