Philip Cameron Taylor | 1936 - 2020
Phil Taylor was my contemporary at school, subsequently at UCT, and we were good friends. After various travels, he ended up in Zimbabwe where I was teaching at Falcon College, so our long friendship continued. He was a talented pianist, coming from a musical family, and was great fun at parties where his skills were always in demand. He lived out at Durbanville, so he often stayed with me in my flat in Rondebosch during our UCT days. Coincidentally, his sister Ann, a top botanist, often appeared with me on nature programs on the radio, both in Zimbabwe and the on SABC in South Africa.
Phil will be remembered by his friends for his irrepressible zest for life. Sadly, in his final years, he was not well for a protracted period and died in a nursing home in Hermanus .on 29th September 2020. He is survived by his wife Sue and his children. to whom we extend our condolences.
