OD Executve Director Andrew Wood (1977G) loves connecting and engaging with ODs in his position at the ODU.
So does he love climbing mountains on weekends.
Asked how long he has been doing this, he says for 50 years - this huge inspiration came from Mr Charles Currey who taught at Bishops from 1956 - retiring as the Vice-Principal in 1991.
Mr Currey was educated at St. Andrew's Prep and Michaelhouse before graduating with Honours in Natural Science at Trinity College, Oxford.
Two years of teaching at Michaelhouse were followed by two at Sevenoaks, Kent, before he accepted an appointment at Bishops in 1955.
In the same year he married Anne Wilberforce, who was to become the first headmistress of the Prepreparatory School when it opened in 1961.
Charles taught Physics & Maths from 1979 - 1988 as Head of the Science Department.
He was housemaster of Ogilvie House from 1965 - 1976 and O.C. the Cadet Detachment from 1969 - 1972, attaining the rank of Major.
He had for many years been in charge of the very-successful Signals Platoon.
He was the founder of the Adventure Course in 1968 and up to retirement accompanied the students to the Cederberg.
For many years he ran the Mountain Club at Bishops.
It was here that Andy got his inspiration.
