Richard Ayres (1985,O), son of Donald John Ayres (1951,O) sent us this notice about the passing of his dad:

Donald John Ayres passed away  at Plettenberg Bay on 1 April 2024, just a month before his 90th Birthday.

Donald grew up in Fish Hoek.  He was a bright student and got a distinction in Latin in matric.  After school he went to UCT where he did a BSc. course in Civil Engineering.

He followed a profession in Civil Engineering until he retired.

Donald leaves behind his wife, Joan, who he married on 20 April 1990 and the following children: 

Daughters Gill (Hutton) and Linda (Butler), and son Richard.

Our sincerest condolences to his widow and extended family.
