| Passing of friends |
Stanley Arthur Sheard Brown
It is with deep sadness that we inform the ODU and Bishops communities of the passing of Stan Brown on 17 October 2026 at age 93.
Stan matriculated from the Class of '51 having arrived at Bishop in 1946. He earned a First Class Pass in the final matric exams.
He was a Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant in the Cadet Corps.
After Bishops, he went to UCT where he completed a degree in Engineering in 1956. He went on to practise as an engineer with a stellar career, working in several places such as Durban Ethekwini and Richards Bay.
His daughter Jessica writes: "Dad was a very proud OD who wore his Bishops blazer most recently a few months ago. He was a much-loved and respected true gentleman who touched the lives of so many people. Whether through his family, his work, or the many interests and activities he enjoyed, he built lasting friendships and connections with people from all walks of life. He was loved and respected by all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by everyone whose life he was a part of."
We send our deepest sympathies to Jessica and her family.
RIP Stan Brown.
