PETER ERIC PENNY 1934 - 2026
Dr Peter Penny (born 9 October 1934) passed away peacefully on 4 February 2026 in Hermanus at the age of 91. As a commercial property broker, he applied rigorous land economy theory to the real estate industry through his directorship of Herbert Penny (Pty) Ltd and his doctoral research at UCT. Apart from business, his life was marked by a deep devotion to his family, sailing the Langebaan Lagoon and hiking in the Vogelgat Private Nature Reserve.
He is survived by his beloved wife Shirley, his children Gareth, Miranda, Annabel and Sarah, and nine grandchildren, having been predeceased by his eldest son, Nicholas.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at the Bishops Chapel (Campground Road, Rondebosch) on Wednesday, 11 February 2026, at 3.00pm.
The HUNGARIAN TRIO will be performing from 2.30PM.
