| Passing of friends |
We have been informed of the sad passing of Blyth Thompson.
He was 97.
He was a regular visitor to the ODU both whilst living in the Southern Cape and after coming to live in Cape Town.
On behalf of the ODs and Bishops, we extend outr deepest sympathy to Wendy, and his children Moyo and William.
Blyth entered School House in 1941 completing his matric in 1946 after illness prohibited him from writing in 1945. He earned a distinction in English.
After matriculating he went to Rhodes University to read Law and after that he went up to Oxford (1954).
Whilst at school, Blyth was a member of the Ten Club and the Debating Society, which stood him in good stead for a career in politics.
Blyth served the ODU with distinction, the last position, as secretary of the Garden Route Branch.
He became a member of the ODU in 1947.
An obit will be posted as soon as possible.
RIP Blyth Thompson.
