Class of 1973

Bonds forged 5 decades ago were rekindled over 3 days of events for the Matrics of 1973.

The first function was drinks at the Mitre, at which the “boys” were joined by former teachers Brian de Kock (1953O), Tom Fair  & Ed Milne from Prep.

Day 2 included lunch at historic Kersefontein farm, hosted by 8th generation descendant Julian Melck (1973F) . The group of Bishops geriatrics felt quite at home in the family cemetery, listening to strains of “Nearer my God to thee!”

The final function was a dinner at the Vineyard Hotel which went on into the wee hours. Around 40+ matriculate came from 5 countries for a memorable weekend, with arthritis pains being forgotten as the evening progressed.

Thanks to former headboy Peter van Ryneveld (1973G) and Nicky Bicket (1973F) for their excellent organisational skills over the past year.

With thanks to Gary Taylor (1973G) for this write up
