It was decided by a few ODs of the matric class of 1966 living in Hermanus, to organise a get together for their classmates. This, to co-incide in March 2024, with the 175th anniversary of the founding of Bishops.

A possible date, time and venue were discussed and notifications were sent out by Donald Fraser Bett (1966F) to any ODs living in Hermanus, as well as those who had holiday homes here.

The Hermanus Golf Club was chosen as the venue, with a lunch arranged for Saturday 16 March, though the good offices of Club member Mike Reid (1966S). He must be thanked for organising the lunch at this superb venue.

A most convivial and enjoyable lunch was enjoyed by the following 66ers and their wives: Mike (1966S) and Andrea Reid, Phil (1966F) & Jenny Kilpin, Stephen (1966S) & Olwyn Smuts, Chris (1966G) and Grace Le Mesurier and Donald Fraser Bett (1966F).

There was much animated conversation about our school days. A toast was given to celebrate the schools 175th anniversary. A list of all our classmates who have departed was also read out and a moments silence observed. It was unanimously agreed to have another get together before too long, especially with our advancing years!

Photographed at the lunch at the table were, from front left. Chris Le Mesurier, Jenny & Phil Kilpin, Andrea & Mike Reid (at head of table), Olwyn & Stephen Smuts, Grace Le Mesurier & Donald Fraser Bett.

Classmates who were unable to attend and sent their good wishes included: Barrie Gibson (1966W), Freddie de Wet (1966W), Adie Buckland (1966W), Robin Watling (1966F) and Rick Haw (1966W).
