Two concerts were recently held in the Memorial Chapel, from the Music Department and Bishops Society. On Monday 15th April at 19:00 there was the Vespers Service in the Memorial Chapel, of vocal music with the Bishops String Ensemble performing Arvo Pärt’s Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten. On Tuesday 16th April at 19:00 staff and guests of the Bishops Music Department performed a concert of sacred music to include Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater, arias from Bach’s St Matthew Passion and Vivaldi’s Chamber Concerto for three Violins and Basso Continuo. The concert was lead by Lucia di Blasio Scott, performed on period instruments, with soloists Lente Louw and Vasti Knoesen. Both concerts were well attended and a wonderful way to start the Season of Easter. Should you wish to receive notifications about forthcoming concerts in which the Bishops Society is involved please contact Paul Murray pmurray@bishops.org.za
