 Jeremy Herbert Gibbs, who died in Portugal, 30 January, 2022, aged 86, was a scion of the Barons Hunsdon.

He was born 26 May, 1935, son of the Rt Hon Sir Humphrey Vicary Gibbs, GCVO, KCMG, OBE [1902-90], sometime Governor of Southern Rhodesia, and his wife the former Molly Peel Nelson, DBE [1912-1997]; and married 8 April, 1958, Alison Douglas Martin [born 6 May, 1936], daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel Douglas McCrone Martin, of Dunchatton, Troon, Ayshire, and his wife the former Annie Dunlop Galbraith [1900-1988], sister of the 1st Baron Strathclyde [1891-1985], &c.

Jeremy Gibbs is survived by his wife and four daughters, [Elizabeth] Belinda [b 1959], [Barbara Anne] Camilla [b 1961], Lucinda Jane [b 1965], and Arabella Sophie [b 1967].

 

From the Telegraph & Times of 3 Feb 2022: GIBBS Jeremy Herbert died in Portugal on 30th January 2022, aged 86. Adored husband of Alison for 63 years. Devoted father of Belinda, Camilla, Lucinda and Arabella. Proud grandfather of Helen, James, Alice, Georgina, Rebecca, Oliver and Daisy. Private cremation in Portugal on Friday 4th February at 4pm. Raise a glass in his memory

He was s of Rt Hon Sir Humphrey Vicary GIBBS GCVO KCMG OBE 1902-90 (s of 1st Baron HUNSDON 1854-1935 & 3xgt gs of Sir James DASHWOOD 2nd Bt 1713-79) and Dame Molly Peel NELSON DBE CStJ 1912-97 d of John Peel NELSON d 1948 of Zimbabwe. He m 1958 Alison Douglas b 1936 d of Lt-Col Douglas McCrone MARTIN and Annie Dunlop GALBRAITH 1900-88 (sister of 1st Baron STRATHCLYDE 1891-1985 & niece of Sir Thomas DUNLOP 1st Bt 1831-93), and had four daus as above.

Jeremy Herbert Gibbs was born on 26 May 1935 at Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.1 He was the son of Rt. Hon. Sir Humphrey Vicary Gibbs and Molly Peel Nelson.1 He married Alison Douglas Martin, daughter of Lt.-Col. Douglas McCrone Martin and Annie Dunlop Galbraith, on 8 April 1958.2 He died on 30 January 2022 at age 86 at Portugal.3
He was educated at Diocesan College, Rondebosch, Cape Province, South AfricaG.1 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 From 8 April 1958, his married name became Martin. He lived in 1999 at Upper Kennards, Leigh, Kent, EnglandG.1
