Philip Marx (1952S) | 1934 - 2018

Philip Marx (1952S) | 1934 - 2018

Philip died peacefully at St. John Hospice with his beloved wife and daughters by his side. He is survived by his wife of nearly 45 years, Carole (Melnyk), and children Melanie (Sacha McLean) and Alexandra (Daniel Jackson), his grandchildren Hazel, Liam, Kate, Olive, and Charlie; by his siblings Robin and Shirley who reside in South Africa with all of Philip's nieces and nephews. Philip was born in London, England and educated in South Africa at Bishops Diocesan College and the University of Cape Town where he graduated with an engineering degree. He would later immigrate to Canada where he would meet the love of his life and start his own family and a business of 25 years, Allfoam Industries Ltd. Philip was a member of many organizations and choirs. He will be remembered for his love of music and his beautiful tenor voice.

We are devastated by the loss of our beloved husband, father, and friend. Philip was an extraordinary man. He was a true gentleman who had a twinkle in his eye and a sense of humour that touched everyone he met. His loss will be greatly felt.

A memorial service in Vancouver is being planned for sometime in September. We would like to thank all of the staff at VGH, St. John Hospice, and the many doctors who cared for Philip. Flowers gratefully declined in favour of donations to the VGH and UBC Hospital Foundation, vghfoundation.ca, St. John Hospice, stjohnhospice.ca, or a charity of your choice.
