After holding the shield for two years, Bishops unfortunately came in second at the Old Quad Golf Challenge held at Westlake last Thursday.

The format of play was that of stableford, with the Wynberg old boys claiming victory by 21 points after finishing on 466 and Bishops 445.
SACS came in third at 439 points and Rondebosch old boys rounded off the four Schools with 437 points.

Bishops did manage to take home a trophy or two by winning all three longest drive holes.

Adrian Kuiper (1977W) certainly has not lost his sporting touch by winning the over 55 year-old longest drive, Alistair Smuts (1990S) took home the between 36-55 year old longest drive and Simon Kilpin (2016O) won the below 35 year-old drive.

Simon had this to say when asked how the days play went, “Nothing quite like a good old boy rivalry, enemies on the course, followed by cold beers, friendship and laughter. Winning the longest drive involves a little technique and a lot of luck.”

John Smuts was the Bishops captain and had this to say on the day, "The weather was sunny but quite windy; however, a fun day was had by all participants. Thanks must go to Jeff Sternslow of Wynberg Old Boys for his overall organisation, and to the 3 other o/b union team organisers: Gary Fouche (Rondebosch) and Craig Banks (SACS)."

The OD Union would like to thank John Smuts (1969S) for captaining the Bishops team and Jeff Sternslow and his team from Wynberg for organizing a great day of Golf.
