Join WP van Zyl and Vince van der Bijl in Masiphumelele on Tuesday 27th March 2018 at 1.45 pm to celebrate and showcase the power of sport in schools

Bishop ODs and spouses, staff and friends as well as those from  SACS, Wynberg and Rondebosch are invited to an Open Day at Ukhanyo Primary School to celebrate and experience the impact of the Sports Development Programme, the MCC Masi 750 Sports Club.

This project, designed to transform youngsters through sport from the ground level up, led by Vince van der Bijl in partnership of MCC, NGO Masicorp and the Headmaster, Michael Thyali and staff of Ukhanyo Primary School was launched in August last year.

We are delighted that this Open Day has received the enthusiastic support of the Headmasters and the Old Boys Unions of the four historically competitively linked and deeply respected schools.

Come and witness this amazing educational institution of 1900 kids in an impoverished township, with its academic hubs, sporting programme, choir, traditional dancers and young violinists. The visit will enlighten and entertain you.

Please read the Daily Maverick article, which outlines the underlying reasons behind the programme, as well as the school’s needs. We invite you to join the Club by donating R1200 per annum to ensure its sustainability. Our objective is to attract 750 members.

See for yourself the success of the project in just six months through the blog: https://masicorp.wordpress.com/

We look forward to seeing you on the 27th.

  • See map HERE
  • During the 90-minute event you will see the school sport in action as well as the academic hubs with some entertainment by traditional dancers, violinists and the choir.
  • Refreshments will conclude the Open day
