Cornel signes for the Blues.

Cornel Smit (2015W) has built a reputation as a skilful, intelligent, and composed midfielder, known for his expansive, attack-minded style of play. An Old Diocesan with strong Bishops roots, Cornel blends creativity, accuracy, and calm decision-making , and when required, he brings a dependable boot, capable of stepping up and kicking at goal when called upon.
After leaving school, Cornel made his mark in the Varsity Cup with Maties, showcasing his class in the midfield and earning recognition at provincial level.
He progressed to Western Province and later the Vodacom Bulls, where he added physicality, maturity, and big-match temperament to his game , including the privilege of playing in a URC final, a milestone few achieve.
Now, Cornel will embark on a new chapter abroad as he joins the the Cardiff Blues in Wales.
