Several Forms from the Pre-Prep accompanied by their teachers, came to the Museum today, Founders Day.  The focus was on Bishop Robert Gray and Sophie Gray the Founders.  At the time of the school's opening, Bishop Gray was on a visitation to the island of St Helena which was part of his episcopal see, so it was left to Mrs Gray to inaugurate the school, with Archdeacon H. M. White and Staff.  Mrs Gray recorded the event: "The Diocesan College School was opened on this 15th of March (1849); the number of pupils was six".    There was no opening ceremony.  The pupils were Harry and John Breaks; Richard Daniells, Charles Hope, Benjamin Musgrave, and William Henry Ross.  Ross was the senior pupil.  Others who joined the school as students that year were among others, John Eedes, John Fry, and the Bishop's son, Charles.
