Shakir Dollie, Bishops College Class of 2017, has embarked on an exciting new chapter in his journey within school sport. This year, he successfully completed the World Rugby Level 1 Introduction to Refereeing and Match Officiating course, a significant milestone that reflects both his passion for rugby and his commitment to continual growth and learning.

Last weekend marked a proud moment for Shakir as he took charge of his first high school match, officiating the Under-14 clash between Hamilton SP and Paul Roos at Bishops. It was a fitting setting for his debut, surrounded by the community that has played such a meaningful role in his development.

For several years, Shakir has been a familiar and supportive presence at Bishops Prep, where he has particularly enjoyed working with the Under-9 rugby players.

His dedication to coaching and mentoring young athletes is a reflection of his broader commitment to shaping young lives positively through sport, a commitment further strengthened by his studies in Sports Management at university.

Shakir is deeply grateful to the Bishops community, whose support and encouragement have been vital along his journey. Inspired by the mentorship of his coaching colleagues and the unwavering encouragement of his close family, especially his mother, sister, and cousin Ashieqa. Shakir embraced the challenge of becoming a referee, adding another dimension to his impact on the game.

His approach to officiating is deeply rooted in the values he upholds as a coach: ensuring that rugby remains a safe, fun, and rewarding experience for every player involved.

Shakir's journey is a shining example of how strong community ties, personal resilience, and a willingness to step into new roles can open doors to meaningful opportunities.

We look forward to seeing where this new path will take him, knowing he will continue to inspire and positively influence the lives of many young sportsmen and women.

The Bishops family is proud of Shakir Dollie, and excited for what lies ahead!
